Nooo....I'm talking about when I do a scan for wireless routers with my laptop, it's not finding any wifi areas...and I'm 2 feet from my wireless router.

Oh I see now, LOL. Hmm strange. It should just list in the network manager so I'm not sure why it's not showing up, unless it's further down the list of networks.

Found this DD..

Seems like it may answer your question. I'm bookmarking it too as I'll be setting up wireless on mine soon too. Hope it helps.

OK. I've found someone who has made some repos for better looking fonts. They use the Ubuntu patches. I think this is not in openSUSE by default and other distros because of some patent issue with the hinter, as it supposed to be a grey area in regard to Apple.

Quote:
To install the procedure is as follows:-

1. Run the command:
Code:
zypper ar http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/home:/anshuljain:/ubuntu_patch_11.3/openSUSE_11.3/home:anshuljain:ubuntu_patch_11.3.repo
2. Run this command:
Code:
zypper dup
. This will upgrade your existing cairo, freetype and fontconfig packages to the patched ones.

3. Add the following lines in /etc/X11/Xresources:-

Xft.dpi: 96
Xft.antialias: true
Xft.rgba: rgb
Xft.hinting: true
Xft.hintstyle: hintslight
Xft.lcdfilter: lcddefault

Change the line "Xft.hintstyle: hintslight" to "Xft.hintstyle: hintslight/hintmedium/hintfull" depending on what you select in your GNOME or KDE desktop font settings.

My recommendation is to set the settings to "Slight" and turn on "Subpixel Hinting" under (for GNOME only) Change Desktop Background (Right click on desktop) -> Fonts -> Details -> Subpixel & Slight.
To edit the Xresources file just hit Alt, F2 and type
Code:
gnomesu gedit /etc/X11/Xresources
and paste those lines at the bottom. Then just re-login and you should have much nicer and shaper fonts.

How to use OpenDNS with Network Manager in openSUSE to improve network performance.

Open YaST and got to Network Settings. In the Global Options tab, Network Setup Method, click User Controlled with Network Manager and click OK.

If the Network Manager doesn't start in your panel, just Alt, F2 and run nm-applet(KDE4 uses it's own Network Manager as I know).

Right click the Network Manager icon and click Edit Connections. Click Edit on whatever connection you have.

Click on the IPv4 Settings tab and select, Method: Automatic (DHCP) Addresses Only.

In the DNS servers box, add this address.
Code:
208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Click Apply and disconnect with the Network manager and reconnect.

Go to this page to test OpenDNS http://www.opendns.com/welcome/

Not sure about wireless and other types but you can do this directly for your router.

I am posting this from my linux SUSE laptop....but I still don't have the wireless configured. I've been googling this issue with the BC4312 adapter, and it seems that I'm not the only one having this problem....

I've not had good experiences with wireless too. I decided to run a 20 meter CAT5 cable to my router, hidden around the edge of my room into the other.

Heh, I failed with bc and a Netgear wireless n adapter. I'm reinstalling Ubuntu to see how that goes. Gotta have my wireless connection these days.

I'm using this guy's repository. I was able to get my wireless working and I'm posting from bed.

Nice one. Packman has a lot of useful packages. The "webpin" feature I posted is very useful.
