It's enabled by default, yes. As long as the drive is in AHCI mode in the BIOS settings you shouldn't have to do anything for it to work.

Done and thank you very much. Anything else I might need to do. I have disabled Defrag and System Restore and Hibernate.

You're welcome . You disabled Superfetch?

BTW. From what I understand, TRIM does it's thing when the PC is restarted. If you don't normally turn off your rig and the drive is slowing, try a restart. It's normal for the performance to fluctuate quite a bit, so don't worry if it drops off over a few weeks and then comes back to normal.

Yeah, Superfetch continues to fill your RAM with things you may or may not need after booting has finished (therefore using your HD and slowing things down until it's finished). There's little need for it in most rigs and no need at all if you have an SSD. It'll just wear it out faster.

When I first setup my PC, installed a SSD (boot drive) and Win 7 I did not enable AHIC in my BIOS. Does this mean I am not using TRIM? I was told TRIM will not work without AHIC enabled.

Thanks.

Those tweaks, with the exception of defrag, are more for reclaiming storage space than anything.

Well I reinstalled windows a couple times doing different things, all the sudden where ever port my SSD drive was installed at would hang then error out, Unplug it from port everything would sip right through until it would know there isn't no OS to boot from, plug back in to any port tried them all it would just hang at the port then come up with error, So I got a RMA for my new patriot Inferno drive all ready, can only get a replacement no refunds

But stuff like that is the reason I'm going with Intel for SSDs. Other controllers are faster, right now, but this is still a storage medium where reliability is key. I'm not saying Intel is perfect but they sure have more experience than RAM companies that are starting to jump the SSD train.
No how do you do that? Like when I reinstalled windows I selected format drive our should I just delete before doing a clean install on the SSD

It's always best to start with a clean SSD, even now with TRIM.
Put the bootdisk on a cd then what? put hd erase files on cd?
