Default SuSE 8.2 - lost GUI (KDE) after 3d Acceleration enabled

SuSE 8.2 - lost GUI (KDE) after 3d Acceleration enabled. Once I enable the #D acceleration I lost me GUI and can't seem to be able to disable #D acceleration through YaST2 or sax2. My card it a G4 ti4200 - thanks in advance !!!

How was it that you 'enabled 3D acceleration'? It makes a difference to the repair method what steps you had taken to get in your current situation.

Shooting in the dark, I would say do this:
- run sax2 and configure the card to work as a generic geforce 4

- edit the config (for which you need to check /var/log/XFree86.0.log and look at the top 20 or so lines for: (==) Using config file: /etc/X11/XF86Config

- make sure you have the following section, with at least these lines (there will be more in the section.. just make sure the driver is 'nv'):

       Driver      "nv"
EndSection
- reboot and pray

- come back here and post results, including the contents of /var/log/XFree86.0.log which you copied immediately after it failed to load the gui.
Copy it and then get it posted here.

After you've repaired that much perhaps you can enable the 3D supported driver step by step again.
