Not exactly his fault when everyone and their brother talks about the 460 like it's the second coming. People (not just reviews) built them up to be these amazing cards, but at the end of the day they are still the low end of the 400 series.

You say buy a 470, but look at the negative press that they got compared to all the gushing of the 460. I'd buy a 470 ten times out of ten over the 460, but to the average person roaming forums and reading reviews, the 460 is "the real deal", etc. I mean, you have reviewers calling them "enthusiast" cards, etc. , which they aren't, and between that and the price they look like the best thing since sliced bread.

there are still benchmark numbers out there, and are not hard to find. you can see exactly how this card stacks up....

I'm sorry you guys, but I'm not buying this whole 'the HD 5770 is similar to a GTX 460 performance-wise' when EVERY single benchmark out there shows the GTX 460 is head and shoulders above any HD 5770 out there right now.

There's gotta be something holding this card back (drivers, etc).

Just look at the GPU usage under BFBC2:

lol, look man, I published official reviews of HD 5830, GTX 460 and GTX 465, and found that the 5830 generally kept up with the NV cards in most gaming benchmarks. It did get pushed around in a few games and anything with tessellation, but overall it was close in overall value.

Furthermore, pretty much the entire hardware community thinks (by way of user experiences) that the HD 5770 (especially when overclocked) is in the same performance league as the HD 5830.

I don't know why I'm having to repeat myself here, but it sounds like you're not willing to admit the overlap that exists between the high-end of the performance segment and the low end of the enthusiast segment.

It's much the same as the 6600 GT overlapping with 6800 NU, 7600GT and 7800GS, 9600GT and 8800 GTS 320.

But does it makes sense to you that I'm getting WORSE, noticeable worse performance with the GTX 460 vs the HD 5770?

It's been reported that some of the 400 series cards don't play nice with BFBC2, low GPU usage, jerkiness, some stuttering, etc... and that's exactly what I'm getting.

That's really low GPU usage something must be holding you back. Have you tried a variety of settings? No AA, more AA, Vsync off, etc?

Yup.

GPU usage stays at ~50% pretty much the entire time I'm playing BFBC2.

I have tried with 32x CSAA, GPU usage goes up, but just a little.

There's gotta be something holding this card back, I just know it.

And I'm not the only one suffering from this.

On my 5870 the game stays pretty much at 90-100% the whole time and runs completely smooth. It may very well be a driver problem it seems like mailman2 was having the exact same problem with his 480. Have you reformatted since coming from the 5770?

Yup.

Clean install right after installing the GTX 460.
