Not sure what HBAO is but things run smoother with it on. I know it has something to do with shadowing. My brother was getting ****tly stuttering and I turned this on and it helped immensely. Hope it helps you too. Incidentally he is running 260GTX 1900x1060ish everything high under advanced and getting mid 40's for FPS Ave.

Try changing the config file to use DX10 instead of auto (DX11).

Some games just play better with ATI cards ,and some games just play better with nvidia cards. This has been the case with me anyway, even if they have higher framerates. But going by all the benchmarks the GTX 460 should play all of them better then a HD 5770.I had a pair of HD 5870's and it played all the games I played good except the ones with phys-x.I bought a pair of GTX 470's simply because I like there control pannel better and for the few games that have phys-x and they had them on sale for $279 a piece.Since I don't have Battlefield Bad Company 2 ,I can't comment on it .But if I was looking at reviews and benchmarks ,I would have chose a GTX 460 over a HD5770.Might try overclocking the CPU to 3.8gig if posible.Plus if you still have the HD 5770 ,you could go crossfire or SLI with another GTX 460.Also some games just play better with a i7-920 then with a Phenom. If all of your other games plays better with a GTX 460 then it is more then likely a driver problem with a nvidia card. This is what H.B.A.O. does according to this.

plus CPU will not max out, and even with 65% CPU usage you still could be CPU limited a bit. and try the 259.09 (no inf modding required), the 259.12 quadro drivers need inf modding.

Do the 259.09s support 3D Vision Surround? I'm getting some stuttering performance in BFBC2 at 5760x1080 in 3D and I'd like to see if these drivers help.

I have to say that on my old 260 card I experienced some stutter with this game, in the actual game. It was like the actual game was lagging. I myself could move about the game but the objects and things like that appears to be not as smooth, same with helicopters in the back ground. It seems to be an issue with this game, my GTX 480 has no issues with this game what so ever though.
