Hi all!

I come back to this thread again.

In the meantime I installed Fedora 13 x86_64 and also the new nvidia driver 265.35.

But I still have the same problems. After the installation of the driver 3D acceleration worked fine. After 1-2 hours and the installation of Skye and Wine the 3D acceleration doesn't work correctly anymore.

Enclosed please find the bug report.

I can't see any error messages in the report, but I am still a linux learner

So maybe you can give me a hint, why the 3D acceleration doesn't work correctly!

Thanks a lot for you help!

There are indeed some error messages there:

Those:

mean that something is going wrong with your GPU; probably triggered by a driver bug or hardware issue (only nvidia can really decode this cryptic stuff).

In your Xorg.0.log there are a lot of:

Does 3D work fine (atleast for a while) after a clean (cold) boot?

P.S:

Unrelated to your graphic issues but

Those aren't needed; you are forcing the use of the outdated (on Linux) mouse and kbd drivers instead of evdev for no reason.

Hi Dragoran!

Unfortunately 3D doesn't work fine after a clean boot.

Do I have a possibility to contact nvidia to decode this crypic staff?

Thanks you for your hint concerning my mouse and keyboard. I will have a look at this sections.

Thanks a lot for you help! :-)

Best regards,
Melanie

That's weird ... you said it works right after installation ?
Does this apply to new installs to? (i.e can you get it to work at least temporary this way=.

You did by posting in this forum; serval nvidia employees are active here.

Hi Dragoran!

Yes, thats right. After installation 3D acceleration was working fine (at least with glxgears). But after starting a 3D application (in this case World of Warcraft) the 3D acceleration stopped working correctly. The game starts, but just with freeze frame and every few seconds a new frame.

With Fedora 12 I had the same problems with Compiz, so I dont think that the problem is wine or WoW.

Unfortunately I canīt get the 3D accerleration to work again. Not after a fresh boot and not after a new installation of a 3D application (I didnīt make a fresh install of the nvidia driver).

What can I do, to solve my problem? Should I wait till a nvidia employee answers to my problem? Or maybe I can find a firmware upgrade for my GTS250? Or do you think I have to change the graphic card to a new one?

Best regards,
Melanie

can you read http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=46678 and generate a good report with the debug info as instructed after the issue appears if you run a native linux 3d app like Unigine Heaven (but with Compiz disabled)?

Hi Licaon!

At the moment I dont have the time to make a fresh install of the driver and test 3D acceleration with a native linux 3D application to create a new bug report. But as soon as possible (maybe on Friday or on the weekend) I will do this.

edit: Maybe I should mention, that I have problems in Windows too. I have to restart the game 4-5 times before the game starts without massive graphical corruptions and working 3D acceleration. Sometimes I have to reboot my PC to "solve" this problem.

Best regards,
Mealnie

I don't currently have Fedora with an NV card, but Sean_W posted some good tips here.

http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=151377

Hopefully one of his suggestions will help.

maybe you should read this then: http://www.playtool.com/pages/artifacts/artifacts.html
maybe it's a hardware problem

Sorry for my late answer.

I uninstalled the Nvidia driver and installed it again. But now 3D acceleration doesn't work at all.

So I will make a fresh install of Fedora (because I have no idea what is wrong). And than I will come back to this thread again ...

Licaon, thanks for this link. I have artifacts like in the Counter Strike screenshot and also like in the Guild Wars screenshot (video ram and gpu artifacts). So after following the hints, I have no gpu artifacts at the moment in Windows (but the video ram artifacts are still there).
