You really should apply the lag fix over at modaco as that would almost triple your quadrant score and of course make the device a lot faster. Running froyo myself on my galaxy s and getting a quadrant score of 1736.

Mine will aquire it quickly too at times but then the accuracy is so bad Oprah would get pissed and smash cars if she had to use it to find the nearest Krispy Kreme joint.
One time my wife was driving and I had my phone in the car so I turned it on to test the GPS. It aquired a signal in 20 seconds. Great I thought. Then it started tracking her move along the map and all of a sudden it veered off the road and showed her in the water. A little bit later it showed her going 100mph according to GPS Test. It was so crappy all we could do was laugh. It is very inconsistent. Soimetimes it sucks more ass than a vaccuum attached to Rosie Odonnell's cellulite covered ass then the next time it will be decent enough to use. I did use the google maps this weekend when I was on a motorcycle ride and wanted to find the closest way to the highway to get home. The map worked perfect, the navigation part blows. Sorry, didn't mean to get the thread off track. |

Root access is not something you should be afraid of as long as you remember to back up any important info you have on your phone. It's very rare that any pics/vids get deleted just because you've moved them around. I mean how often do you mess up your windows installation just because you have access to the sensitive system files? Besides almost every tweak out there comes in a pre-scripted form so you really don't even have to do anything yourself. The difference in speed is like night and day and I have full flash support in the browser! Here are the links for all the things you need: FAQ about flashing/rooting Possible GPS Fix One-Click Lag Fix Modaco seems to be down right now so I'll post those links later(the most important ones of course), but you could try the lag fix for now just to see how much of a difference it makes!

That possible GPS fix is crap. It was posted a day or two after the phone was released and at first it did seem like it helped get a faster fix on the satellites but the accuracy was still poop.
The thing with rooting the phone I am scared of is if I need to return it for warranty work will they void my warranty? Is there a way to get it back to stock again? |
