I've used FreeBSD on three different laptops, none of them with nVidia GPUs, and none of them ever resumed from standby.

Seems like you've been unlucky with with your laptops, my previous laptops have worked just fine ( a old fujitsu s4546 and a thinkpad t61p )

On a fbsd system use acpidump -dt > foo.asl and the iasl foo.asl to see if the thing is valid. I haven't yet seen a correct asl ![]() Best regards andrnlis |

My desktop came back from S3 since installing 256.44
![]() Unfortunately, some graphical corruption around window borders forced me to reboot anyway. (Using compiz+emerald) |

Perhaps I was a bit enthusiastic. It worked that one time, but subsequent tries yield only NVRM XID lines and a restarted X server.
256.xx have been fantastically stable aside from that, though. |

There still are some freebsd specific issues to deal with, but the nVidia side seems to be working nicely now ![]() Best regards andrnlis |

A bit more testing reveals that a not inconsiderable amount of suspend-to-ram ends up haning the machine
![]() Also using for example KDE4 with desktop effects tends to hang the machine just a tad to often ( perhaps once a day ). When running another WM the most reliable way to get a hang was starting/using OpenOffice ![]() Is there any way to produce some debug info for this? Getting a dump seems impossible as the machine just hard locks. /Andrnlis |

Am I correct in assuming that the nvidia binary driver (which works well otherwise) is a huge obstacle in getting suspend/resume to work on freebsd boxes that have nvidia hardware?
