I've been doing some reading on this problem (I hate unresolved issues), and it seems that this is either a bug or something similar.

The resolution that some have suggested was for me to install gdm and have that as my display manager. However, if I did that, then KDE won't be able to log out.

I will just wait for the fix.

Heck - it was my keyboard!

I booted into my primary install (Ubuntu 64bit) and it went crazy too, fricken keyboard had everything going bananas

So I'm going to give it another try - I bet that's what's been causing me heart ache all along too. I knew
texstar would never condone a release that buggy.
