That's why I'm kind of crying foul on the DX11 performance on ATI cards. 460 is a great card and all but its tesselation performance isn't exactly that much superior to the 5850 in other benchmarks I've seen, such as unigine. Usually they were about the same. Though they are close as you can see in this test. But it just seems selecting DX11 as a renderer creates an artificial drop in framerate even when you don't pile on the DX11 features (the numbers in the graph above are with them on high so that's not what I'm talking about). I wonder if there is a similar drop in performance on nvidia cards with DX11 as renderer but all the features turned off.

The 460 is for a different market segment that the HD 5850. If you're going to compare it to anything, compare it to HD 5830.

Yeah 5830 is more of an appropriate comparison, but my point was the 460 and 5850 are similar in tesselation performance since that's ATI's weak spot. Also nvidia's clear advantage here is in DX11 and it loses that advantage with DX9.

Your benchmark shows basically what I was saying. In DX11 codepath with DX11 features off the 5830 sees a significant decrease in framerate compared to DX9 while the 460 sees a significant increase in framerate. I think some optimizing with the catalyst drivers might end up fixing that as the DX11 renderer should be faster. There really shouldn't be this big of a hit.

For test A
5830- DX9: 58.9/DX11: 49.4; DX11 is significantly slower here
460- DX9: 55.9/DX11: 66.1; DX11 is significantly faster here

9.5 frames per second slower without adding any DX11 features. When you add on the features it's going to further drop it, having a nearly 10 fps slower framerate just due to using DX11 as the renderer is just going to make it even worse. With DX11 running slower for ATI and faster for NVIDIA this makes about a 20 fps gap in performance while nothing has been changed visually, just the renderer.

Well since everyone in this thread has been posting at 19x10 or 19x12, I'm going to assume he thinks anything lower than what he is using is low res.

1920x1080, 4XMSAA, DX11, everything at it's highest

Test Gameplay A : Avg 73.1 FPS
Tech Demo B : Avg 53.2 FPS

Any but 4XMSAA made the benchmark crash in LOOP i had 1 run of Test A with 32xCSAA at 62.3FPS but that's all

EDITED BY RAGEJG: Bakalu if you want to post bechmark results here, use thumbnails or a simpler way to post them, ESPECIALLY if you're just spamming your results across seemingly all tech forums. Posting results like this kills screen real estate and kinda ruins readability/ease of use of a thread. Again, if you feel the need to spam all tech forums with your results (which are appreciated) do it in a more considerate fashion. One or two scaled down screenshots is acceptable, but page upon page of full sizers is just too much. In the case of this post, the link to your original post will suffice, and I actually recommend that you stick to doing it that way as it's jut less obtrusive.

This is a benchmark thread containing results from GTX 2-series cards, and ATI cards.

It needs to be moved to the benchmarking section. I can move the thread but I'm first wondering what the logic was behind the move.
