VERY Vague is more like it. He starts saying that one thing fixed his problem, and then he said that may be because of a,b,c, and/or d....

Any player will play the files if the codecs are installed. Amarok2 uses the Xine backend by default(KDE4 uses xine backend by default).

You just need the codecs for gstreamer or xine. Try installing gst-plugins-bad, gst-plugins-good, gst-plugins-ugly packages.

I never used it in Windows. I'd rather have a goat chew my balls than use WMP or even iTunes for that matter.
