okay so tonight i got my evga gtx backplate(http://www.evga.com/products/moreInf...0Hardware&sw=4)

anyways installed it and decided to overclock it,I was an idiot I was using evga oc scanner to scan for artifacts only I forgot to enable the artifact scanning part lol i had the clock on like 875 and the memory clock was on 1065 then i tried playing crysis and it crashed i was like wtf. Restarted computer and like I said I didn't have the check for artifacts box checked ...so I checked it and ran scan and had artifacts...lolz had to down clock it im on
gpu clock is-855
mem clock is-1060
sha clock is-1710

gonna keep testing it and I noticed that in Nvidia CP if I have the force Vsync option on it gives me artifacts with some of the settings unless I disable Vsync then I'm good

Love it Bro! Can't really say anything positive that hasn't already been said about this card.

Only thing left to do now is reconfigure my case fans to get better airflow across the heatsink. With afterburners fan profile set at 50/50, 60/60 70/70 >75/75 my max temps in everything tested so far are anywhere from 69c-80c.

Crysis maxed and Metro 2033 maxed but with DoF disabled net me around 97c though. That's in a HAF 922 with fans on low and nothing hitting the card directly, so I'm pretty confident that will drop with good airflow.

The best (safest) overclock will allow all settings with no artifacts. Just my .02. Sounds like you got a card with some good headroom either way. Nice.

So a question about two GTX 460's in SLI on a MSI X58A board, once I get the second card back from being RMA'ed anyway, would it be smarter to set it in the 3rd slot so that there's some seperation between the two cards for heat reasons or does it not matter?

If you get full performance (x16) out of all 3 slots I would separate them + have some decent airflow between the cards. I've never seen the point in not taking advantage of any way to cool that's available.

Do the 460's run pretty cool under load?

Hard to tell as one card was bad right out of the gate, I had massive screen tearing in anything I tried, then upon a reboot day 1 had massive screen tearing right in windows. So I right away sent it to EVGA to be rma'ed. The solo one I've been running for the week since seems pretty normal temp wise under load, the highest I've seen it go under load in Stalker: CoP is 65 C, but thats taking into account its been very hot here in Mass the last few days.

I'll have to check when I get the 2nd card back what the PCI multiplier is with them in spaced out slots. Thanks for the reply grey.

Yeah it has, wife's car read 102 Tuesday. Mah new 480 has me sweating LoL.

65c seems good to me. My 470 was hitting 70-80c with Metro. Granted it's a bit more gfx intensive, but I don't have CoP so can't really do a direct comparison.
