OS X automatically defrags on the fly, or something like that. The end result from what I've found is that the user has no idea what the OS is or isn't doing wrt maintenance so has few options besides a reformat when things inevitably get slower. This sits fine with people who "don't want to know".
What we need is an OS which automatically disables these things when the drive is detected as an SSD. Of course this could then cause problems with those hybrid drives...

Is this a good drive?
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...301&CatId=5300 I like the overall package and it's over $100 cheaper than on Newegg. |
