Default Windows Phone 7

I have to say... the more I read about WP7 and watch previews.... I think it's going to be freaking awesome. It seems significantly faster than either the iPhone or Android when just moving through the OS, and I think the integration is going to be fantastic.

If it ends up really being nice I may have to dump my Droid X next year.

I am liking WinMo 7 as well

There are some very nice features and the UI is very smooth. Apple is about 2 years behind in widget development on the mobile platform and that is something I really miss

Wow. Just watched some youtube videos of this OS and it looks super slick. Droid almost seems clinical in comparison.

It almost gives the impression of a 'dumbed down' phone but this ease of use factor seems very efficient and well thought out.

A tech savy person should be able to fly to info or do what they want in several less steps than a Droid phone.

wot? Really? Are you sure. I mean it was there in previous version. My old Nokia 7650 had it, I need it.

EDIT

Quote:
Update: We just super-double-ultra-plus-confirmed this with Microsoft -- Windows Phone 7 Series will not have copy and paste functionality. There is a data-detection service built into the text-handling API that will recognize phone numbers and addresses, but Microsoft says most users, including Office users, don't really need clipboard functionality. We... respectfully disagree? Sure, let's leave it at that.
Wow. Just wow.

It took Apple a couple of years to implement that functionality.

Microsoft has said they will not have cut/paste initially but it will be rolled out soon.

Let's hope sooner rather than later.

So it took a couple years. At lease none died because they didn't have it. Just think how many pc's running windows had a BSD in that time.

So wait, a phone OS that has a large integration with Windows Office and it does not have cut/copy/paste??!!!! That seems crazy for anyone that wants to use this as a business phone.

Edit: Also, I'm guessing the app situation when this OS comes out will be rather lacking.

It has a form of auto copy and paste, but as far as I can tell it only works on phone numbers and web pages, maybe addresses. Still when I'm on nvnews for example, it's really handy to be able to copy and paste normal text.

I'm excited about this phone. I love the Metro UI and XBOX Live is what made me decide to upgrade to instead of iPhone 4. For Copy/paste, and multitasking, I don't really care about those features to be honest. I rarely use it on my iPhone and for multitasking, it just kills your battery life. I never felt the need to have multi apps open at once. Eventually Microsoft will rollout the free update with copy/paste and probably multitasking if the demand on it is high.

Rumor or not, HTC is working on uber Windows Phone 7 sporting a 4.5-inch AMOLED touchscreen (with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels), a dual core 1.5GHz ARM-based processor, 1GB RAM, 32GB storage, Wi-Fi, 4G, a 8-megapixel camera with two LED flashes, HDMI port and HD recording capabilities, a 1800mAh battery, all in a 10mm thick enclosure. Seems overkill but here's the link:

Last Friday when I was heading home from class, I noticed something happening at Microsoft campus (I live few miles away)- it appears they were celebrating Windows Phone 7 going RTM. I saw Darth Vader there! It appears they did Thriller dance and a funeral for Blackberry and iPhone. I guess they're having so much fun. Funny, a lot of twitters/reporters calling it immature and clueless... I mean, seriously? They're just having fun and clearly they're happy that WP7 has finally hit RTM. I honestly don't think WP7 will top iPhone or even Android right away but that doesn't mean they can't celebrate. They deserve it.
