Angry Nv drivers 1.0-4496 + RH9 = GLX not working

Hi people

I have RH9 and X with nv driver 1.0-4496 .
X loads ok , no errors , but when i try to run any app it segfaults.

I tried several kernels with and without NPTL support:
standard RH kernel, 2.4.22 from kernel.org and 2.6.0-test 7 with minion.de patches.

In either case i've check if the linked libs are the correct ones(tls or non-tls) .

EVerything FAILED. :-((

Even glxinfo segfaults.

I exported with LD_PRELOAD the libs that link with libpthreads before loading libGL libs. the same result??

Could you give me a hint plz???

Thanks.

I have a AMD Duron at 1.33 ghz with a Geforce2 GTS video card and standard RH 9 distrib

Question X crashes

I am having similar problems.
AMD Athalon 1.73GHz
Quadro 4 980 128MB 8x AGP
RH9.0, 2.4.20-6
nv driver 1.0-4363

drivers were installed on top of RH9.0 on 6/18,
and were performing will until a couple of weeks ago.
Now, all I can do is start an xsession and maybe xclock.
Anything more aggressive crashes X.

I've made no upgrades/changes.
X crashes before the logs capture anything useful.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

bdavis:
If it did work and now seems to crash abusively I would remove the driver, manually clean out anything it didn't get rid of, and reinstall.
You can find the listing of the libs the installer places in your system in the extensive readme for that driver version.

Kornos:
Try to get ahold of the X log after its started up, your system sounds like you are able to log in normally?
Attach the log file to the thread, along with your config file.

/var/log/XFree86.0.log
/etc/X11/XF86Config

(I suggest using the newer driver, 44.96 rather than 43.63, unless you've already had poor success trying to use it)

Thumbs up

Installation of latest nVidia Drivers,
version: 1.0-4496
fixed the trouble.

Everything seems to be working ok again.
No idea why they suddenly did not.

The host is running:
'Red Hat Linux 9 kernel 2.4.20-6 Athlon'
