Angry not working with AGP & 3DNOW?: GeForce4Ti4200 & Elitegroup L7S7A2 & AthlonXP 2400+???

hi,
does any of you have a working combination of a GeForce4Ti4200 & Elitegroup L7S7A2 mainboard & AthlonXP 2400+?

i have this combination and it doesn't work fully.

system crashes/freezes a few moments after starting a 3d-game.

i have to do following things, so that system is stable:

1. i have to disable agp with setting NvAGP to "0" in the XF86Config-file.

2. and i have to disable the usage of mmx, sse and 3dnow by the nvidia display driver by setting the environment-variable __GL_FORCE_GENERIC_CPU to 1.

does this mean, that i have some hardware-defect?
or is it a known issue, that the combination of a GeForce4Ti4200 & Elitegroup L7S7A2 & AthlonXP 2400+ will not work correctly?

Having to do those things just to keep your system running sounds very much like a defective BIOS, or possibly damaged hardware. Does the vid card work in other systems? I would check it in a different system, preferrably also under linux but any way you can verify the card accelerates fine would work.

Do you have the latest BIOS update for that mobo?

yes, i have the latest version from 06/19/2003

under windowsxp the system is stable.
but 3dmark03 also crashes when performing cpu test 2. but this could be another issue.
3d-games work under windows, even the same games, which freeze under linux.

so it seems the problem is a driver/kernel problem.....

has anybody here a working combination of GeForce4Ti4200 & Elitegroup L7S7A2 & AthlonXP 2400+ under linux?
