Default Adobe releases 64-bit Flash for Windows, Mac & Linux

Finally about time you can run 64 bit Flash on your 64 bit IE8, 64 bit Firefox and other 64 bit browsers. Dont forget to install 64 bit Java too and test IE9 beta.

The 64 bit Flash player "Square" build is preview 1 and is not the final build. Latest and current released Flash build version is 10.1.82.76, this preview 32 bit & 64 bit build version is newer 10.2.161.22 released on 15 Sept 2010.

You can download either 32 bit or 64 bit at the link below.

http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/flashplayer10.html

Guess I think it time now for me to dump 32 bit IE and Firefox for good.

Tested on 64 bit IE8, far so good. Noticed it faster than 32 bit IE8. 64 bit Flash worked on Facebook and Youtube, fantastic!

If you have trouble find 64 bit Firefox, you can find it on Firefox Nightly Builds site, the latest is 4.0 beta 7.

Ya, I hated going to websites and saying, sorry, Adobe doesn't support 64 bit yet.

In benchmarks, page rendering and load times IE8 64 is faster than IE8 32.

I was going to say wasn't there a huge security flaw with the latest 64-bit Flash release, but it appears that Adobe fixed it today.

http://www.downloadsquad.com/2010/09...vulnerability/

Quote:
Thanks to F-Secure, we have just learned that Adobe has responded quickly to the most recent critical security flaw in Flash, which Lee reported on a week ago. According to Adobe:

* Chrome users are already protected! Versions above 6.0.472.62 are patched. This version number refers to the Stable channel, but the latest Beta channel update also has the same update (with a different version number).
* Patches for all other operating systems (including Android) are to be available today.
* Adobe Reader isn't protected yet – the patch is due around October 4. On the plus side, there isn't a known exploit in the wild for this vulnerability in Reader.
