Default Dell Inspirion 8100: Resolution troubles

I am now pretty mad as I am typing this for the second time. Anyway, I have had problems getting my res to 1600*1200 i.e. the full screen, since I installed the nvidia driver ( the latest one). I am using SuSE 8.2 and I have a Gforce2Go card. I have pasted my XF86config file below. Anybody who has a similar laptop with similar modelines, I would be interested in knowing if they are the same, as I have no idea how to change them.

Could you email me that file georgeATdodgybloke.co.uk or attach it as a file please, as the board does something to the formatting which stops it from being read properly!

I see you have twinview set up...that is another issue I wanted to sort!

Default

I just installed the .run package on suse 9, same hardware.

previously I used to build the package on 8.1 from source it turned out beautiful.

I am not done yet, but the quality looks worse with this new driver. I can at least send you the modeline if you have not got it yet, however correct me if I'm wrong, this screen is 1400x1050 not 1600x1200 ... IIRC the option was only for more ram in the GeForce2 GO... 2 years ago maybe I'm wrong..

Default followup with modeline

Ok, at least my display is 1400 not 1600, Dell Inspiron 8100, Suse 9

It works, but GLX is slow, glxgears is around 780. I'm still working on it but it doesn't bother me, at least the display looks nice.

I did it with sax2, but then edited the XF86Config file; here are the relevant lines (without respect to their section); save a copy of sax's original file, or don't use sax again and expext it to work

(my system loads agpgart)

in sax2 inital config choose monitor
-->LCD
ModelName "1400X1050@70HZ"
(I could not get it to work choosing the 75hz LCD)
Option "CalcAlgorithm" "CheckDesktopGeometry"

Modeline "1400x1050" 118.42 1400 1488 1640 1880 1050 1051 1054 1086
(remove all other modelines, you don't need them)
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1400x1050"
EndSubSection
(remove all other display subsections)

load glx
Option "NvAGP" "2"
