Typically just type STATUS while you are in a server. I think it's the easiest route, but not sure how accurate that is.

EDIT: Doing some research yields that apparently low steam ID's are valuable to hackers, because it makes high scores in the CS scene look legit because they are using an old account, when in fact they aren't legit at all. This is probably why my account, with the few games that it has, was targeted. This probably means my account will be vac banned soonish as well.
I have a low number ID yet mine has never been "stolen". Also, stealing credit cards can come with jail time. Stealing a steam account will result in nothing.

If your steam account is tied to your credit card?

Not without the cvv code, usually 4 digits and possible to guess but very unlikely before fraud protection kicks in and locks down the card.

My Steam no longer asks for the CVV code. Not sure if it's an option I ticked, but I now have one click purchasing...

Tell me, why exactly would he care if he's from russia? I'd love to hear your reply to that one.

And besides, banks don't investigate credit card theft. The bank just writes it off as a loss and then issues you a new credit card. Tell me, how often do you hear about people going to jail for credit card theft?

You act as though it's impossible for servers to be hacked.

Back in february of this year I bought 4 HDMI cables from monoprice. In march my credit card was used by somebody I don't even know. A few days later monoprice sends me a letter owning up to their systems being breached.

Furthermore, stealing battle.net accounts doesn't result in jail time either, yet this person hasn't touched mine in spite of it being worth at least a thousand bucks.

That settles it, I am 100% sure somebody is ****ing with the steam servers.
