Default What is the next latest and greatest Droid? (verizon)

I am going to finally bite the bullet and get a smart phone, I know a lot of people with the X.. But is there something newer and better on the horizon, like say... 2-3 months away?

I want to get it now, but if something better is coming very soon, I can hold out a little longer.

2-3 months time, wait and see what's in store for Android 3.0 based phones and also what's happening with Windows Mobile.

YES. Something better soon! Tegra 2 (Dual Core). Not a whole lot more is known, but give me some of that Tegra goodness. Now if you can wait a little longer, you can hold out for a 4G handset (rumored to debut at CES during the Verizon Keynote). I'll be there and will be sure to let you guys know if it does.

**EDIT** OK, not soon as in a month or two, but definitely after the first of the year (CES). And come to think of it, with the timing, it might just wind up being a 4G handset.

With rebates you can get a Droid X for $150 (if not less). Just bite the bullet and get the phone IMO. It's an awesome phone and im glad I bought it! Runs great ever sence Android 2.2 came out for it. There is nothing this phone can't do. Plus the screen on it is amazing!

Verizon will have a nationwide 4G network that is larger than AT&T's 3g network by January, so I'd hold off getting an Android phone on Verizon unless you can deal with the fact that you will miss out on 4G.

IMO the best 2 phones on Verizon are the incredible and the X. I went with the X, but if I was going to keep the phones stock I'd go with the incredible. Though the hardware isn't as good on paper it runs circles around the X in everyday use. HTC sense is much better than motoblur.

Will the new Verizon network allow for data and voice at the same time? The current network is larger, more stable and typically allows better average data transfer rates nationwide, but it has limitations.

Good choice. I was hoping for a dx but I got a d2 instead. (Work phone) I must say it's a pretty slick phone so far.

Do you find that you actually use the keyboard?

I thought i'd use the one on my Samsung Epic, but I don't... Swype supplements fast typing and the keyboard is really only used for gaming on emulators. I'm kind of dissapointed in the size as a result of adding tha tkeyboard

Actually I use it all the time. The On screen is okay but I seem to hold it in a way that I use the side of my thumbs to type, so it's inaccurate. Using the slide out keyboard is a lot easier for me to type. This is my first smartphone so others might be used to on screen already.
