Really? Bloom you say? HDR is alot better, atleast check out the mods at doom3world.org, speaking mainly of the highres texture work, and the HDR mod by sikkpin. I don't see why a radeon card would stop you from using a higher res texture pack. Care to explain what u mean?

Also the Brilliant highlights fixes the shaders so they look beautiful, you need to check it out bro.

Red, rygels textures sucks. He didn't increase the res or replaced them, he just open the textures in photoshop, adds lots of sharpening and saves it down in the .pak files again. He also alter the shaders for more speculars which in combination with the added sharpening makes the textures appear more highers but IMO makes the game look gritty and ugly and harsh on the eyes.

Nah, a real texture mod is what am talking about:

http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/vie...st=0&sk=t&sd=a

Here's some pics with that mod and also with the impressive HDR mod. Note the use of supersampling in the pics. Also note the sweet useage of Softshadows

Oh and welcome marcelus! If there would be a place to be when stoned this is the right place! Welcome to nvnews17, it's safer here

Can you combine textures, sikkmod_test5-D3 with Brilliant highlights? What about idTech 4 Shader Pack? Which is better? Where can I download brilliant highlights?

Agreed. Soet, can you give a full rundown of the mods that you are using for DOOM 3 to get it to look that good? I got the high-res texture mod and the HDR mod from your list, but what else are you using and how are you achieving softshadows?

MW2 on PC. 1680x1050, 8xMSAA, 16xAF, max settings. Got to say it looks damn impressive in several scenes. Not just artwork and design but also quite respectable tech use (atleast in PC version). Sparks and glass debris with physics, massive particle amounts in larger fires (see images), lightsources casting shadows, nice specular, decent amount of destructable things etc. Probably some PC specific extra detail and of course games visuals aint lost due to sub-HD and lack of AF and low AA.

You can not combine the sikkmod with the Brilliant highlights mod directly. Unless youre in the modding scene and know what youre dealing with, it's about changing shaderfiles and altering .pak files etc, it could be possible but i dont know, u have to ask of the forums of doom3world.

Brilliant highlights u can find on doom3 files... just google brilliant highlights doom3"

Ok guys, see these screens are using both the HD texture pack mentioned earlier also the HDR mod. But to get the softshadows u need to make some kind of autoexec.cfg and alter it. Why dont you all read in the HDR thread of doom3world youself, it says what u need exactly:
http://www.doom3world.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=22822

Also take note that supersampling is being use to achieve the additional quality. And a good SSAA always bump the quality up quite alot.

Cudos to Sikkmod and Monoxead for those mods and to ALien8ed for the screens. There's lots of cool pics in that thread btw. But the mod isn't done yet, still wip stage.

Here's a very nice example of the sweet use of soft-shadows along with proper SSAO:

Rich textures and HDR:

Edit, if you install the HDR mod make sure to use these settings in the autoexec.cfg for proper looking SSAO and soft-shadows, the cfg goes in the sikkmod folder.

r_usessao "1"
r_ssaoBlurEpsilon "4"
r_ssaoBlurQuality "1"
r_ssaoBlurScale "1"
r_ssaoJitter "1"
r_ssaoAmount "1"
r_ssaoDistance "16"
r_ssaoRadius "1"

softshadows:
r_softShadowsBlurEpsilon "2"
r_softShadowsBlurScale "0.3"
r_softShadowsBlurFilter "3"
r_useSoftShadows "1"
