Vm Under SuSe 11.3

So I have Installed suse 11.3 and the 3d driver so far so good.

I have installed the visualisation packages this too is all good.

However to access the vm version, i have to boot to different install (or so it seems)
3d driver not enabled in this desktop.
However I have managed to get xp working under suse 11.3

Does anyone know how to sort this out so that i can boot to the original kde desktop with 3d driver installed. or is this a limitation on the distro?
