HD 4870, 4890, 5770, 5830, 6850, GTX 460 192 and 256 bit perform similarly if you group together all games results...

Across the board the GTX 460 and 6850 are faster, the 6850 I've seen so far at the very least 10fps faster at the same settings... and I've seen the GTX460 twice as fast as the 5770.

But you're at least partially right, now that I'm thinking about it. Not sure if I'd really get my money's worth. I'd sell this 5770 for about $130 since it's practically brand new. I'd still be forking out about $60 for the new card. Would I be getting $60 worth in additional performance...? I'm kinda' thinking not likely. Maybe I'll be better suited waitin till this time next year, when 28nm parts are coming out.

So far I can play every game I own, including most newer ones, with in-game IQ settings maxed. Just can't use any AA.

Maybe I should also look into CrossFire. That'd cost me more money, but would it yeild better results? Or just remain content with this 5770 for now?

Gonna' have to do some more reading to before I come to any decision. But thanks for the input rage... you do bring up a valid point- I'd likely not be getting my money's worth in regards to the performance I'd gain.

Nope. And don't really plan on OC'ing it either. Power consumption is a concern as I live out in the sticks- electricity is pretty expensive out here.

GTX460/6850 is about as high as I'd be willing to go in regards to power consumed... and only because they consume so little when idle.

umm, power bill increases due to an OC are really an overblown issue, man. 5770s OC quite nicely with noticeable gains iirc. read some eviews so you can see what kind of jump you'd experience.

True enough... that's not my main concern. My main concern is frying the card. I don't have another $130 to drop down on a new card. This thing needs to last me till I can replace it. I mean, I could replace it if I had to- it wouldn't make me go bankrupt or anything (

), but if I can avoid replacing it that'd be ideal.

I've got the Sapphire 6850 in my oldest AMD rig. That's the one I am passing on. There's what Heaven v2.1 looks like @ 1920x default on the 6850 @ 945|1150 stock volts. I believe that's right on par with a stock 6870. Of course an OCed 6870 will bury it. Nvidia's offerings like the 460 1Gb are faster in tess more often than not as well when OCed.
