Don't get me wrong, I still love online play. In fact, Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the best multiplayer game I have played period. I have never put so many hours into a game. I will reach level 50 one day. I love it that much.
I think that's kind of dependent on your situation. All my old LAN buddies live in different states now or got married so LAN isn't even an option for me, and I don't miss carting my whole system around every weekend. We always get on vent when we play so there's plenty of trash talking going on. I do get 50-60ms pings on most servers though, and I hadn't considered that there are a lot of players on relatively poor internet connections.

I feel like a lot of people are going to be disappointed with Black Ops. There's so much suspense building. It's going to be difficult to live up to it.

Well MOH was certainly a huge disappointment and that was over hyped too. I think after the MOH failure most people are just looking for the next big FPS and can't wait to move from MOH to COD BO. I'm certainly ready for something better to come along.

I've never been disappointed with a COD game, even if its just good thats going to be enough for most people.

Good and more developers should be appreciating their roots. These big mouthed idiots keep trash talking the original customers that made them. Yea, CliffyB I'm talking about you....foo.

Just goes to show you that even a ****ty game like UT3 can make money in consoles .

I guess most console gamers are not expecting much as they are always given less when compared to a PC Game, and PC Gamers are angry because now they get less than what they used to, and not take full advantage of today's tech, ontop of that the price increase , DLC and removal of mod tools (not all games have fallen to this yet).

I just hope the next series of 'next gen' consoles come with a hardware upgradeable option and not some fancy plastic sticks to wave around infront of a camera :/.

You really think upgradeable consoles will change everything you hate about the platform?
