Not really on either front. If you put on the BS detection glasses, seems more around 14% and uses more power and just has a downclocking power management to make it seem like less. Still its not bad though, $500 seems too much though when you can get a faster 5970 for that.

So, they called this 512 core fermi a 5xx series GPU, what will they call Kepler in 2011?
I guess this is prety much the same as G80 - G90 and soon we get GT200, which is the 'proper' upgrade.

It would be more impressive if it didn't cost more than GTX480. Seems like you're paying 15-25% more for exactly that much more performance... I'm sure it will go down soon when competition arrives, I'm still a bit disappointed in the price though.

Those aren't test results, they're the posters 'calculations'.

I'd take those with a huge grain of salt.

TBH, the 580 isn't particularly impressive given the price.

+1. Water cooled and over clocked to 875 already... I don't need a 580. Meh.

No, they don't.

These cards are pretty good (price is a little silly).

I'd still wager that the 580 will hold the single GPU crown (over the 6970) as the 480 did before it. No 'fail' there at all

Looks pretty good to me but I sympathise with anyone who bought a 480 in the past couple of weeks. I very nearly did.... phew.

Welp, if I can find a buyer for my 480s on craiglist, I'm definitely upgrading to these. I want to squeeze every last ounce of performance I can for 3D Vision Surround.
