Default MSI deployment best pratice

I just wanted to know what you think is the best pratice for msi file storage for remote installs.

Currently all our MSI files live on one DC in a share called RMI. Then we just add them to the software install GP poining it to \\server\rmi\name of MSI file.
I wanted to know if this is a good idea. We do have a server that holds network apps would it be better on that. Or would a good idea be to use DFS to keep the RMI foler in sync on all DC's. and use \\FDN\rmi\

Hope this makes some sense?
