Angry 260.19.21 still not working on 10.10

today I tried the new 260.19.21 prerelease and I'm still not able to use my two external monitors with deactivated internal display like is used to with the old driver.
WHY DIDN'T YOU FIX MY BUG?

last thread: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=156112

Code:
my setup:

+-----------------+ +------------------+
| Laptop ASUS V1s |-------| Internal Display |
+-----------------+ +------------------+
      | +------------------+
      |----------------------| LG Display CRT-0 |
      | +------------------+
      | +-------------+ +------------------+
      |----| HDMI -> DVI |---| LG Display DFP-2 |
           +-------------+ +------------------+
by now I start to believe Nvidia really doesn't care...

Same problem here! Latest nvidia drivers on ubuntu 10.10 does not recognize my monitor when plugged in hdmi, only in vga... I bought a LG LCD screen only to watch hd movies with a HTPC, rendered useless because of that incompatibility Nvidia/LG. Please nvidia fix this issue, i don't want to use a crappy and expensive and slow windows 7...

In fact it works through HDMI only if the HTPC is plugged in VGA and HDMI... That's weird...

I'm back to 10.04 Lucid, at least with old nvidia drivers (195) it works...

I wonder if perhaps the bug has to do with the driver failing to read the EDID over the HDMI cable connection? Or perhaps it doesn't like the EDID it receives that way, which is different from the analog-only EDID it gets from the VGA cable connection.. ?

Suggestion: grab the EDID info using the old driver, and then supply it as a "custom EDID" to the new driver.. maybe that will work until they fix it?

Or did it never work with any driver before?
In which case, try grabbing the EDID off the VGA cable, and supply that as a "custom EDID" when using only the HDMI cable.

Cheers

mlord:

I just tried out your suggestion. The EDID doesn't seam to have anything to do with the problem. Both EDIDs are exactly the same with the "working" driver (173.14.28) and the new one (260.19.21).

So I'm stuck with the choice between two really buggy drivers:
173.14.28
(+) two external monitors
(+) esata hard-drive works normal
(-) twinview OpenGL bugs (gksudo freezes the system for 5 min)
(-) color channels swap or missing in videos (VLC, Totem)

260.19.21
(+) working OpenGL (as far as I can tell without twinview)
(+) working videos
(-) no two external monitors (this bug)
(-) esata hard-drive causes 100% CPU and refuses to start during X11 start

I'm really getting frustrated here...

Try making custom modelines, seemed to work for me:

One can also get the Modelines from the Xorg.0.log when using nouveau.

Same issue here - was able to fix with custom modelines, but auto-select doesn't work and I just get a weak or no signal on my Samsung. Not a big deal for me anymore, but it was kind of a pain.
