83C is hot and not really over the top for a 480.

You're consistent, no information of any value here.

Believe it or not NP, contrary to ATi PR, some people consider price/performance, features, or just performance when purchasing video cards.

Of course, some of us just want AF that works too:

Me too. The only caveat is having to use AB to make my own fan profile. As long as the fan was already spinning at 50% when a game fired up it rarely went over 70-75c with the stock cooler.

With my aftermarket cooler I hardly ever see over 47-52c while gaming, 69c max with furmark, and it's dead silent with the fans spinning at 60% so heat and noise are no longer a factor.

IQ is only limited by my crappy monitor, but even with that it's still leagues ahead of any card I've owned before.

From what I've read, it's the real deal. At least the GTX 480 owners out there have something to heat their house with this winter!
I hope this is just a lame troll thread, otherwise this is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on this forum, and that's saying a lot.

Do we have another multiple personality disorder on our hands?

I'm not saying the reviewers are wrong, I'm just stating my own experience with a GTX 480. It's a great card, and I have not read one post from an owner who was dissatisfied with it. It may not be more than 15% faster than the HD 5870, but that card is also going for over $400. The GTX 480 may be the better buy in the long run though as more and more games will be able to take advantage of DX 11 features like tesellation. Nvdia has a winner with this card. It's not a home run over ATI, but it's still a good card.

I think fermi is not that bad. It has proved what I was thinking about it before launch... flexibility. They can make new cards without big effort.

Indeed, it's just slightly better, but nothing shocking. It was a good choice when I went months ago for two 480GTX's and enjoying supreme (SG)SSAA in dx9 and 10 and 11

These GPU's will probably stay in my rig for at least an other year, which is rare in my case.
I thought about changing them for 2 GTX580, but it costs me not much money for the gain.

Instead of this I will spend it on some new custom wheels for my car

When i switched to GTX 470SLI setup i realized how much HD5870 Crossfire sucked. No more ATI for me, ever.

Note the bolded part... so I guess that mean no one is buying NV right, since last I checked the price/perf metrics all favored ATI by a country mile. Also, "just performance" is still held by a year old ATI 5970. Just sayin'.
