Default 2D Performance on Quatro 880M

Hi,

I have new Dell Precision 4500M with a Nvidia GT216 [Quadro FX 880M] (rev a2). with the driver version 260.19.12

3D performance improved after setting Indirect Rendering and
Loose binding. However 2D performance is still horrible ... My old
Dell runs gtkperf in 39 seconds while the new box takes 70.63

I've not been able to find anything out there, am open to any ideas...

xorg.conf read as follows:

Section "Files"
ModulePath "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/extensions/nvidia"
ModulePath "/usr/lib64/xorg/modules"
EndSection

Section "Monitor"
Identifier "Monitor0"
VendorName "Vendor0"
ModelName "Model0"
EndSection

Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "nvidia"
VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "True"
EndSection

Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Card0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Viewport 0 0
Depth 24
EndSubSection
EndSection

How many iterations?
2D has always sucked on the nvidia blob, but it shouldn't be too extreme..

100 iterations ... My D820 also had an nvidia card and that one was not this slow. I don't have that laptop anymore so I can't compare exact values ... but its noticeably slow

It might help if you post what distribution you are using. There is a known performance issue with cairo 1.10.

Fedora 14 64bit with Xorg 1.9.1

Yeah.. Fedora 14 ships cairo 1.10. You can downgrade to cairo 1.8, or install a patched cairo 1.10.

I'm getting 100 iterations in <4 sec on a 880M with nvidia 256.53, cairo 1.8.10 on debian sid.
