Question Phoronix says that drivers might support xrandr1.2+ soon

Quoted here :
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?pag...item&px=ODg3Mg

Can we have an official statement over this supposition ? I'm quite excited about the eventuallity to have at least XRandR 1.2 support within official nvidia driver.

Regards,
VLJ

What would xrandr 1.2 support mean to the average Ubuntu user? (just asking)

iirc, the nvidia driver does not currently support the rotation of a single monitor with twinview. intel and radeon has supported this via xrandr for a while now. So that's certainly one possible advantage.

Phoronix is a tabloid. The site regularly makes mountains out of molehills or has the wildest speculations. Don't listen to the Phoronix bull****.

They made the same claim years ago, or rather Nvidia made the claim and they repeated it. I'll believe it when I see it, Nvidia has broken too many promises with Randr for me to believe a word they say about it until it is actually running. They flat-out said they never considered it important (after saying earlier that it was a top priority).
