Want to replace my GTX-285. What is the best choice?

I think I will be selling my EVGA GTX-285 and go Fermi soon. What card would be a good choice, or should I wait another year or so? You can see my system in my sig.

I have been thinking about selling my 285 for a while now to get myself into a Fermi based card for several reasons. #1 better FPS, #2 DX11 #3 I would like to sell it soon so I can get a decent amount of $$ towards a new card before it loses most of it's value. But the biggest reason is better performance, that is ultimately what I am after. If it's only 10-15FPS increase on average, I would say that really isn't enough of a performance boost for me to spend $200 or so out of my pocket.

I also use a GT-240 as a Physx card, that I would like to keep but not opposed to selling it if it gets me into a really good card and would eliminate the need for it.

I plan on doing this in the next few months when I get my taxes back. My price range will be around $350-400, maybe a little more if it gets me into a much better card. I would like to stay with EVGA because I have had great luck with them and the warranty and customer service is really good. But I have bought other cards before and I would again. I am also no opposed to buying a ATI card, but I do have my reservations about that. My last one (HD-4850) would NOT play any games that used OpenGL. It crashed every time & I could never get it to work with any version of Linux. Not that I really use it Linux much.

I like that fact that the 480 has more RAM than the 570, my 285 has 1gb. Going just 280 more MB is not much of an upgrade. I would really like a 2gb, for GTA4 and a few other memory intensive games.

Got any good links to accurate comparisons between a 285 and one or both of these cards handy? Or do you know what kind of performance increase should I expect to see? Is it worth it, or should I just wait?

PS: I only have a 650w Rosewell PSU, will I need a more powerful unit?

570 dude! Unless you want to crank the res to 2560X XXXX or woteva and have loads of AA, memory may not be an issue.

My 570 Super-clocked just shipped today

I weighed a lot of things but in that comparison, you have to get the 570. The 110 core is superior in many ways from the 100.

I have never seen much improvement in overclocking. It is fun though.

Definitely the GTX 570. The GTX 480 is now end of life. It was a fast card but way too hot and loud. The GTX 570 is MUCH quieter and cooler. You can't go wrong with the GTX 570!
The HD 6970 is also a good choice and has 2GB of onboard memory. It's very close to the GTX 570 in performance but it doesn't have PhysX or CUDA. It's really what you want more. If you want the memory, take a serious look at the HD 6970. However, the games of today don't use much more than 1GB of RAM. The 1280MB in the GTX 570 will last for some time. Unless you have an ultra-resolution monitor like 2560X1536 the GTX 570 is more than adequate.

Good info Maverickman. I am at 1680x1050 and will be for some time. I like PhysX so I think I will stick with Nvidia. My 285 is hot and loud, so I am use to that but it will be nice to have a quieter card.
