If they put out Crysis 2 with less than Crysis level graphics it better have a really good story line and great game play... neither of which I would consider as Crytek strengths. The lack of the 2 however won't likely affect console sales so... maybe this is a good move for Crytek.

It didn't. Piracy was the scapegoat for going multiplatform

Yeah, they almost used it as an excuse. Crytek will probably sell about 10+ million copies of Crysis 2 on the consoles but at the price of a reduction of their tech for the consoles.

They all talk about piracy no mather how much they sell, ask Kotick. Also pre 06-2009 Cevat said in interview that Crysis made even income (Crysis, CE2, marketing, possibly also for canned projects) and Warhead was a major financial success.

Also most games sell the most the first year and it greatly spirals down the following years. Crysis sold over 1 million copies within the first 2 months after it's release.

Point is however that we now have official Crytek games sales numbers from Crytek themselves and thus can filter out BS like your first post that is based on nothing but your own wishes/baseless assumptions. Show some spine and suck it up becouse it is now not possible to makeup fake low sales numbers anymore by either consolitis cases or just insecure armchair "professionals".

It's actually true since going by Cevat and Crytek developers coments in interviews, presentation and official PDF documents about console hardware investigation process and coding for them. This stretches back as far as early 2006 for project start which is almost 2 years before Crysis was released. CE3 being multiplatform was already set in stone years before Crysis came out.

What is important are full price sales and first couple of monts. They sold about 1. million copies within that period, which is disappointment. Especially for company like Crytek.

So now sales amount is not important beyond first couple of months? Cant keep moving the goal post whenever offended by official numbers. 1 million copies is also quite impressive given the nature and to part FUD about needing such "super computer" to play Crysis at all. It's actually not quite common for AAA games to sell millions of copies for single platform for the first months on any platform.

Try harder son, I am not impressed.

Well damn! There still are people making up numbers and trying to move goal posts to claim Crytek/their games are failures despite hard official numbers.

Could they do better? Yes, was it a failure? Hell no. In a industry where even big AAA titles mainly selling on console or console exclusive and millions of copies yet dont even make enough profits to cover costs. Developers working under publishers that last year published games selling millions of copies in first weeks. One also needs to take a look at EAs financial report and interviews and see PC still brings in decent revenues in comparision and has higher development cost to profit ratio even though it sells less copies. No need for 10$ royalty fee for MS/Sony/Nintendo per sold copy and digital distribution by Ea store or Steam makes it cheap to publish games. Despite small 'royalty' fee for using Steam it is offset by not having to pay for game box material nor worldwide transports.
