OOh okay I gotcha, no I have never had the opportunity to do a rig of the scale before. I hope the next rig I get I will go all out and get what I really want.

Very nice. I'm putting together a rig for my dad using that case. I'll probably take a page from your book and remove that hard drive cage as well.

So it's JBOD? That's in windows server (the older version) under a different name, right?

no JBOD, JBOD merges multi drives into one partition. for example half of file can be on one drive and second half on second, if one of drive fails dall data is gone.

I have it simply set up as each drive is seperate partition, then XBMC looks for content in multiple paths

http://wiki.xbmc.org/index.php?title..._Media_Sources

all is running on Server 2008 R2 and backed up on two Sans Digital 4 bay external esata enclosures.

and in case you don't know what XBMC is, here is an example all controlled with a remote on HDTV

not my setup, but you get an idea, there are multiple skins.

edit, would be nice to set up a proper raid, but I would need to buy a decent raid controller, more hard drives and bigger case
