I wouldn't call games selling over a million a failure either but I think if you compare it to say Halo on the consoles, yeah it's weak.

I'm thankful for Crysis regardless and it's just a shame the PC doesn't have much in the line of games like this, pushing graphics to their limit. Console ported games do show their ugliness in regard to such things like shadow quality and LOD.

Sure but I wouldn't hold games sales high for games that are bundled with console unit and/or other console peripherals like Halo games and others been and are. Forced sales will give greatly inflated sales numbers.

But seeing how FC sold 2.5m and that it was also bundled with GPUs and then seeing Crysis sales that sure is a great increase.

Better low-end bar and WinXP out of picture. Developers want to focus on DX11 (has DX10 backards compatibility) as it is more tidy and makes testing hardware configurations and coding far easier and cheaper than would ever be possibly with DX9.

DX9 is only a burden supported becouse of still present WinXP gaming systems. DICE is dancing to the right tunes ditching DX9 API support for BF3.

Yeah well, you can blame Microsoft for tying DX into the OS through the drive model in that regard. Making a graphics API like that is horrible and why DX is useless to anything other than Windows or Microsoft's devices.

If we'd have been using OpenGL, we'd all be using OpenGL 3.x games on all Windows version.

You're dry now, nill arguments or "arguments". Hey btw Crysis sold more than any Stalker game while at the same time not looking like a 10 year old game (COP).
I don't like to comment nonsense

Btw, Stalker SoC sold about 2 mil. copies at full price More than Crysis.

Actually it didn't. Heck it didn't even start to sell at 'regular PC game' full price in many countries and the 2m mark was announced near end of 2008 with game relased in US/Europa mars 2007! It also took quite some time for the franchise and game to get recognisition and increase in sales. It didn't help that it had a reputation of being horribly buggy until later patch releases.

GSC Game World announces its S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl has sold 1 million copies worldwide and 1 million licensed copies in ex-USSR countries.

"We are very pleased that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. became so popular among players from all over the world, - said GSC Game World CEO Sergiy Grygorovych. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is more than just a game now. Financial success will allow us to develop S.T.A.L.K.E.R. in different directions as a brand!"

Thats well over about 1.5 years after US/Europe release. Try harder bud, still not impressed!

Ofcourse it will handle the game in some form. Since it runs on consoles and your PC is a heck of a lot faster than either console.

Though most likely not highest settings as that probably will require more processing power and DX11 compliant GPU. My 4890 could do Crysis at ultra high while having 8xMSAA in 720p pretty smoothly. Going by Crytek stating CE3 efficiency is twice that of CE2 even with more graphics your card would still beat ass like a pornstar at that res and certainly quite high settings.

Thought you deserved some recognition after all the time you have dedicated to ensuring that the most accurate information is passed around.

Yeah thanks man. With some official/hard facts future FUD is prevented. Imagine all the "Crysis poor sales" threads that would never have been created if this info would have been released earlier. Must have been atleast 10k threads and 2000k posts.

Also love your sig, it's like a paradox aslong as you first play Far Cry on your new rig.

Don't mean to be mean, but I was being sarcastic - you could well have been defending the galaxy with that tone, but then again I'm not even sure why the whole argument actually happened... but... then... again.... I did not read the whole 16 pages.

But hay - I'm all for Crysis.

As for my sig - never thought of it like that - just about the paradox.
