Display always stuck in 3D mode

I own a 3dvision ready monitor so I want it to run at 120hz and I was able to with my old linux install. I recently updated it and noticed that now I am always in 3D mode when I'm at the desktop, but normal DVI at the console. The 3d mode, while still giving me 120hz, is sort of blurry and blocky, as if the display had lost definition.

Is there a setting somewhere that I have to tweak to get it running at normal mode?
