Hmm... I guess I have to stand corrected.
![]() According to the Crysis bench my average fps was 18.3 @ 1920 x 1200, DX10 Very High No AA, though I noticed something funny and wondered if anybody else encountered this... when I tried the DX9 mode the display was... wrong. Trees, rocks, people, chars... anything close to the screen was transparent, while the distant mountains were clear and crisp. Was kinda' wierd. ![]() Anyhow, that was the smoothest 18.3 fps I've every seen. Metro at the same framerate look like you're trying to play the game in power point. Well, any other game at that framerate looks like it's being played through power point. Crysis appears disceptively smooth at such a low framerate. Not sure how or why- but that looked and felt like 30fps to me, hence my prior comments. I'm comparing it to say, HL2 locked at 30fps, how that feels and plays, or any other title locked at 30fps. Anyhow, I also remembered why I don't benchmark like crazy anymore, seeing how low my framerate is makes me want a faster card. Even though Crysis is perfectly playable, just knowing they're that low... makes me wanna' upgrade. I'll hold out till 28nm though. Honestly, so long as I don't have FRAPs running I can't tell the framerate is that low in Crysis. Like I said, felt like 30. Maybe I'm just far easier to please, I don't know. Is there a comparable benchmark tool for Metro2033? |

Crysis is deceptively smooth. So much so that I don't notice a huge difference between playing the game with my old 4770 and my xfired 6850's even though fraps shows it's much faster (except that it looks better).
Other games though I can tell a HUGE difference. |
