what can i tell you, just like with 480, my 480 runs much cooler then what was shown in reviews.

maybe my case got much better cooling, who knows, but you simply can't go by reviews all the time.

Obviously that's not what i'm doing, I'm going by reviews and the GTX580 sitting inside my system plus information I've seen from other users who I trust.

70C load is BS unless your using a noisy custom fan profile.

Not necessarily. When the G80s first came out I picked up dual 640MB 8800GTSs. Everybody complained about how hot the 8800GTS and GTX ran, while both of mine never reached 60*C under full load I believe it was. Granted, the room I gamed in was cool and I had rediculous airflow in my case. None the less, it is possible even with the stock cooling and stock fan settings. Rare? Sure, but possible none the less.

I know the 8800s was some time back but that was just an example, the 8800s were hot running cards and to this day I'm not 100% sure how they ran so cool. But they did, neven even got too hot to touch even afte hours of rigorous gaming. If it happened with my 8800s, it could happen with his 580.

Faulty sensor comes to mind.

What case do you use. It sounds like yours has very bad air flow. No way you should be hitting those sort of temps unless running something like Furmark.

On both cards? Not likely. Even so, they'd be hot to the touch at least. Never got anything more than warm.

Like I said, probably helped a lot that the room I gamed in never got much more than 50*F... it was a cool room. Plus the case had *tons* of airflow.

It's an Antec 1200, so no problems with airflow at all.

Also the results I just showed you show you are wrong, it's perfectly normal for them to reach the mid to high 80's in games and allot of reviews show this, some don't but I suspect they didn't do enough testing or used furmark, latest versions of furmark run cooler than they should on the GTX580 due to the limiter.

Your results are more unusual than my results..

The cooler is not the problem, I also need to get the The VR004 Kit so I can install it on the GTX580.

All the descriptions i've read suggest you have to buy them seperately, also none of the coolers on OCUK will work on a GTX580

I'm not saying your results are wrong. Clearly if you are testing, then that is what your card is running at. I posted a screen shot of mine running on the auto fan setup in MSI afterburner. Maybe my temps are like that because
A: I have replaced my Intake fan on the case for the GPU's with an Aftermarket B: because SLI doesn't max the cards at 100%.

Still you cannot argue with what my cards are reading temp wise.
