New smartphone research

Need to get new smart phones for the wife and myself, we've been using older crappy cell phones, so I'm not up on the latest smart phones and want to research the choices for phones and plans... could someone recommend a good site to start? Is there a decent site or forum that compares phones and plans?

What's important to us:
1. low low monthly bill
2. Would like to not be locked into a long term plan if possible
3. little bit but not a lot of texting
4. good map app, like google maps

Net10 would be my suggestion. They now have a $50 a month unlimited plan with text and internet. Get on the internet and use google maps. No contracts.

MetroPCS and boost mobile might also have some options for you. Not really sure what state you are in though so I don't know if you'd have those options.

MetroPCS has $40 a month unlimited talk, text, and web. Boost starts at $50 a month but if you pay your bill on time it can go as low as $35 a month.
