Hi,
I'm using a laptop Samsung X10 XTC1400 with the nv driver coming with debian. X11 is 4.3. I decided to install the NVIDIA driver (4496) in order to use a second screen. I had no trouble compiling/installing the driver but the laptop LCD screen only displays garbage not using the whole surface (1/4 maybe) like a condensed screen. I tried to plug a second monitor (LCD or CRT) with TwinView (metamodes and the like) and the display is ok on a second screen (even on 1600x1200) It doesn't matter if I connect it after starting X) but the laptop LCD is still garbage. Changing the NvMobile registry value (from 0 to 5) in os_registry.c gives (depending on the value) a bigger display but still not using the whole surface of the monitor but less condensed (nearly readable). So maybe a special value is required for the XTC1400 ... - video card : GeForce 440 GO 64M0 - driver version : 4496 - distribution : Debian unstable + kernel 2.6-test9 (same problems with the 2.4) - video bios revision : 04.17.00.72.00 - processor : centrino 1.4GHz - motherboard model : don't know I join the XFree.log (verbose 5) and the XF86 config files Any idea ? Thanks in advance for your help. |

Hi Gandri,
If you try searching for Samsung X10 on this forum you'll see that there are many of us with exactly the same problems with the NVidia drivers. So far no solution has been forthcoming from NVidia though they claim to be working on it.... Andy. |
