Had a scare yesterday. Just built the PC and kept the stock Intel cooler on there until I find something I like. Had it on for a few hours installing stuff and it go up to 97C. That's at idle! I had also left the stock pad Intel sticks on there as well which was a mistake. Took it off today and put some ICD7 and its hovering at 36C right now. Will be playing something tonight so will be able to see how hot it gets. If I ordered a Tuniq or Ultra Extreme do they have the plates for 1155 out yet?

At high temps the CPU throttles back to prevent damage, so I wouldn't worry.

I looked this up on their website already. LGA1156 and 1155 use the same bolt pattern, so as long as you get an LGA1156 compatible cooler it will also work with Sandy Bridge. Thermalright has a bolt through kit you can purchase if you already have a TRUE but don't have a compatible mounting kit. Got mine from Frozencpu and it should be here tomorrow.

I think 4.7GHz on MicroATX is very good overclock and probably it should not be pushed so high with this set up, at least not 24/7.

Here is a nice Newegg TV Sandy Bridge Overclocking & UEFI Demo on ASUS P8P67 P67 1155. The first part of the video is about manual 4.8 GHz OC with 1.4v which they called moderate voltage, the temperatures under peak load was mostly under 60C.
On the end of the video they demo the automatic OC, very easy for any user and the max was 4.84GHz all tested under peak load.

Its not as much boards fault but poor CPU, at extremesystems forum there is batch thread , some got lucky with very good CPUs doing ~5ghz with low volts <1.4 others got poor ones requiring high volts ~1.5 for same speed.
Anyway general consensus is these new sandy chips are very robust and can take volts and clock high. Surprisingly they don't work well under subzero temps but under air and water they go.
Some even tried to kill em doing 1.6volts hitting 98c and CPU still working strong

Anyway time will tell , ill be using this 24/7 as it is stable and there is still more headroom given more air.

Well the ICD7 works well. Idle temps are about 36C and after a few hours of gaming the max temp according to Core Temp was 73C on Core3. Don't plan on doing overclocking so I might just stick with the stock cooler. BFBC2 ran very smoothly at 1920x1080 all High .

Sure not all CPU overclock the same which also applies to some motherboards.

I don't like to run my setup 24/7 under extreme condition. I do worry about the long time effect on the CPU and mobo running under very high voltage&heat plus I like to resell my CPU and mobo to some happy new owner.

Except for the benchmarks I don't think anybody would notice if the setup runs 4.3GHz or 4.6GHz (at least I don't), that's why I always lower the voltage a bit for daily use.

I highly doubt anyone would notice the difference in those clocks or even 4.0-4.5 really. Only reason I do is because of sub zero cooling.

Scythe Mugen 2 should be here today. I'll probably get the heavy bugger installed this weekend and then it's time to play around with the 2600K's multiplier.

Got a 2600K with an ASUS P8P67 deluxe, 2x4 GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600 cas8 and a Corsair A50 at half price. Had a Zalman 9500LED in my old E8400 setup, but couldn't find in Greece the LGA1156/5 clips Zalman is selling. Need a few days to write down everything installed in my old dual XP/Vista64 setup , and then I will build the new setup and post impressions. Wish me luck

I'm already generating 400%+ performance in some instances over my old E4300 setup. Maybe it's my slightly older age, but I've lost a lot of the will I once had to spend hours tweaking for incredibly slight gains.

I wish this review was posted before I bought the Mugen 2.

We had some problems during testbed assembly, because the long pins from the chips around the processor socket wouldn’t let us install the backplate for our Scythe Mugen 2 CPU cooler on the reverse side of the PCB.
