I am having trouble with the default install of Redhat 9 on this card. Mandrake recognizes it but I would prefer to run Redhat. My system specs are:
P4 2.8 Ghz, 1Gb RAM, 160 Gb HD, GeForce 5200 Ultra w/ 128Mb RAM, CDRW, DVD, Soundblaster Card, and a Mitsubishi Diamond Pro 2070sb 22" monitor. It won't boot the cd's in Graphical mode or run the install in graphical. Any recommendations on how I can get this to work? I would like it to use the full capabilities of the monitor and card if possible. Do I need a specific version of x? If I need to download anything, A like to where its at would be appreciated. Thanks. |

You don't mention the issue, but since you're running an FX card this is probably it. XFree86 mis-identifies the card chipset on older distros and uses an incompatible driver. Simply change this after install. Use text mode install or another card to install the OS, then switch cards. |
