I am trying to install the RH 9 rpm installs and it doesn;t seem to be working properly.
I have ran RPM -i and it seems to do the install but when I -q the package it syas that it is not installed. try -ifv and says already installed??? The install RPM i am using is the 2.4-20_6 VERSION. i AM RUNNING AMD Xp 2200 a7n266-vm motherboard nforce onboard chipset RH 9 kernel (shrike) 2.4.20-8 (defualt one) 256 meg ram seagate barracude 40gig After the rpm install what is meant to happen do I run xconfig again and there should be another listing ???? for the driver??? I am current;y using the nv driver but there is not 3d support??? PLEASE HELP!!! |

RPM query works without the version numbers, whereas installing uses the numbers.
rpm -ivh <packagename>-<packageversion>.<arch>.rpm rpm -q <packagename> note the significant difference in what you send to rpm. You can also query all packages and grep out what you're looking for: rpm -qa | grep NVIDIA Are you installing the nForce chipset driver, or the video driver? Supply a link to the rpm you're using if you're not sure. |

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply.. Here is the link to the rpm that I am trying to install... RPM binary install i didn;t realise that there are separate drivers for nforce chipset and video drivers DAH... I will try the video install, my goal is to get 3d acceleration. ![]() Thanks |
