Default Problem with Nvidia 220 and HDMI

Hello,

I have had an Nvidia GT220 card for ~5 months. I use the HDMI port to feed a TV about 30 feet away. It has worked extremely well.

In the last few weeks, the video has stopped working.

If I just try booting the computer, even the messages from the bios, etc are clear, but the whole screen is a red/black checkerboard, almost like a plaid tartan. Once X tries to start, my TV just gives an error about being out of range.

I would normally just think this was a misconfiguration problem with X or the NVidia driver, but it is happening even at the system boot.

The strange thing is I can take the same cable and plug it into my satellite, or DVD player, and the video comes through without a problem.

So, I guessed the video card was bad and bought another one. The new card has the same exact issue.

I am really not sure where to go from here. I am open to suggestions.
