Honestly, and as much as I love my i7 920... I don't see a compelling reason to go with the more expensive LGA1366 platform. It doesn't offer anything that the LGA1155 platform cannot do.

I'd go LGA1155 with a top end chip. Should OC nice and will give great performance for years to come. Obviously, no less than 4GB RAM, the more the merrier. 6GB seems to be a happy medium for most.

Also, and necessary imo- a SSD for the boot drive. 30 - 40GB is usually sufficient and it'll make a *huge* difference. Easily the best upgrade I've done to my rig.

I am willing to bet I won't notice any difference in performance between the platform.

I already have two x25m 80gig ssds. I'm all set there. I am building a new system so I can hand my son the old one. It is a nice i5 system, no slouch.

I am curious about the new EFI BIOS. They seem to like it on this board.

No, going to get a 470 or something like that.

Why doesn't he like EFI BIOS'?

*cough* 6950 flashed to 6970 *cough*

Well, cause that's not the technically accurate way to say it. I view it no worse than saying "VGA" instead of "D-SUB 15", though.

oh geeze he's going to be that nerdy? sorry UEFI. Hope that cleans the sand out.

I know next to nothing about hardware the last 7 years or so. I'm just not that into it all any more. So I don't know what is good among the new stuff coming out. Meh, I just look at user feedback then build a system. I just want to explode stuff.

Anand has a good write up on the new chips Capt- there really is no compelling reason to go 1366 at this point.

Sandy Bridge will be my next upgrade too...unless someone offloads a 1366 system super cheap due to their upgrade.

i won't bother with P67, i'm waiting for the next X series of chipsets X68 or what ever they will call it.

Sandy Bridge takes a step or two forward but then takes a step or two backwards. Not a upgrade to X58, more like a side step.

Neither. Asus Sabertooth P67 is the one I'd choose. Oh, wait, it's the one I DID choose
