This thread's a trainwreck

I'd be more than happy with either multi gpu set up. Win some, lose some. It's that way with every release and refresh. 2 6970's kick a$$ for the money, and often above their price bracket as well.

Well they have been rumored to be launched this month, same as the 6990.

LOL!
Roadhog were trying to make my point or yours with those graphs?

I can buy the racing game is a good victory for the 6970s, but the 33.7 fps vs 33.5 might be sort of hard to discern at Civ V. Those 2/10 of a fps are the difference!
And at Metro, human eyes can't tell the difference with that whole extra 2fps can they?

But my oh my look at how utterly and completely dominated the 6970s are at Mafia2 and Battlefield Bad Company!

So on your apples to apples graphs we've got a big win for ATi on one, two ties, and two big wins for NVIDIA. Advantage: NVIDIA

Thanks for helping!

I wish I could tell you but theres no way to read VRAM usage on ATI cards that I know of. I do know that I don't run out of vram since my FPS stays around 60.

Plus, you want 3 cards, and you have uber high res. For your setup nvidia 3gb card is better for you.

I think ATI has a driver bug right now with eyefinity and tri-crossfire, that it doesn't scale as it should. But thats just what I've read since I don't have eyefinity.

I am really curious how big the stick that is up your ass must be. It has to be at least 5ft diameter.

You should read your previous post. You said nVidia won 4/5 games. Yet, when I show that in the apples to apples there isn't a difference you all of a sudden come out with how 2fps doesn't matter and more. You seriously need some help dude. Your attitude I'm sure scares more people away from nVidia than towards.

My first ATI card was a 9700 pro, then after that I owned all nVidia cards. After nVidia decided to be gay and remove the physx when an ATI card was in the system that's when I swaped to ATI with a 5870 and now 6970. If they never did that I'm sure I would still be owning nVidia cards.

Personally I wish NVIDIA would buy DirectX and OpenGL and charge ATi $100 a chip license fees.

I know. I'm unworthy of owning Nvidia cards. I have a 5870, and my fiance has a 4870 because AMD took us in when Nvidia kicked us to the curb. I don't use my 9800 GTX+ anymore because it turned out to be too amazing for me to be able to handle it any more. I've been living a life of luxury with my Ti 4200, 6800 GT, 8800 GTX, and all the other Nvidia cards I've owned. Now, I'm living in total poverty with AMD.

Nvidia is the BMW of video card makers, and I'm not worthy of owning BMW's. They're simply too amazing for you and me to possibly comprehend.

Enough with this fanboy back and forth crap. You guys have essentially crapped all over this thread which was asking whether to buy a 580 now or wait for a 590.

It's a shame he only used the 263.09 drivers and not the latest 266.58 they are more stable and a bit faster too.

Must admit. I loved the look of portrait mode. It looked awesome.
