Hey all - first time here, so thank you in advance! I believe I'm posting in the right section - if I'm not, sorry in advance!
Long story short, I play a lot of World of Warcraft and recent in game performance problems led me to thinking I should see if my video card has the most recent upgrades. Some quick research shows that it is running an older driver, 178.13: ![]() while the driver download section shows that version 266.58 is already out: ![]() after downloading the latest one and trying to install, I first get this: ![]() and after it begins to install, I quickly then get this: ![]() Does anyone have an idea on how I can go about successfully installing the latest driver? I apologize in advance if this is the wrong section, and I hope my pictures made the situation clear. Thanks again. - Dave |

Have you tried without the clean install option?
If you want a clean install, it may be slightly more complicated: Nvidia changed their installer around the 250s serie and i'm not sure how well it works to ask it to clean the older driver. Try to manually remove the older driver (control panel->remove software->nvidia driver), reboot, prevent windows from installing any driver at reboot detection and then run the driver.

Have you tried other recent drivers other than the newest? WoW isn't exactly a new game and likely you wouldn't see any difference with the newest drivers vs. drivers from 6 months ago when running a 6800.
I would grab the release previous to the current release and try that one. If that doesn't work try the one previous to that and so on until you find one that works. You might want to think about updating your vid card though... a 6800 is pretty old and at some point it just doesn't make sense for nvidia to support a card so few are using.
