Loving this chip. L047B217 from Newegg the day after the recall, it was already on its way. I almost refused the package due to the recall, glad I kept it.

1.45v... Its not a 45nm cpu. They can't take that much voltage.

That voltage will kill that CPU pretty quickly. You might want to consider scaling it back a little.

Intel spec is max of 1.52v

All other voltages are stock. This is water cooled and loads in low 60s.

Lots of guys over 1.5 @ Xtremesystems.

Do you realize the Intel spec sheet for 32nm 980 is max 1.4v? So yes, 1.45 on a 980 would be more than Intel's max for vcore.

The problem is that websites like Tomshardware and the cowboys @ Anandtech jack the VTT, PLL and vcore way above spec for a mediocre overclock in their reviews and they kill chips. They don't know why cause they have no business overclocking in the first place. Then starts the web panic. Uneducated overclockers are a danger to the hobby.

yup. In the bios I'm at 1.40v

yes.. and 1.45 is pushing it. At least it's cheap to replace unlike a 980x.

I dunno, I guess I'm not too afraid I haven't run a chip stock in years Intel Pentium 200 was the last stock chip I had lmao. I've always been water cooled and overclocked. If this chip fails it would be the first one ever. I'm not too worried, temps are low, volts PLL and VTT are lower than Intel max spec.

And yea, it's $229, not a big deal imo. I can run 4.8 @ 1.35v too, but today I'm stress testing 5.0Ghz.

I also haven't ran a chip stock since about well actually never....even my old 286 was o/c from 12mhz to 16. So I've never actually ran a stock computer, and I've never had a chip die. Last I recall even that old 286 still boots dos 6.22 and runs Wizardry 7
