Default Office 2010 Pro Academic

I just bought Office 2010 Pro Academic (the $80 "ultimate steal" deal) and I'm wondering if anybody knows if the key I have is good for a regular Office 2010 pro disc. Reason I ask is because I'm wondering if I can torrent an ISO (yeah grey area blah blah, I know) and burn that to a DVD as an offline backup.

If so, I don't suppose any MSDN subscribers know the sha1sum or md5sum of the Office 2010 Professional ISO? Not professional plus, just professional.

EDIT: Just downloaded the office 2010 "trial" and used my academic key, it worked to activate the full version, so guessing the ISO would work as well. Need to find the sha1sum/md5sum though.

If you bought the Pro Academic copy, then why can't you back up that? It must have downloaded the files somewhere if it was an online copy. Burn those files to disc. I fail to see why you need to download a disc to back it up...

The executable you download is a program that downloads more files in a temp location somewhere, and they're deleted as soon as it installs. It's alright though I think I'll just burn the o2k10 pro trial to disc since the key seems to work fine with that.

To what, a temporary directory? Does it call another executable? If so, I would just download those and burn those to disc. Also, you can typically request discs from Microsoft for about $10 a piece for offline installations.

You should be able to extract the files to a directory/folder. Try opening a command prompt and run

<installer>.exe /extract:<path_to_write_files_to>

For example:

X16-32250.exe /extract:d:\office2010

Then burn the extracted files to an ISO or copy them to a usb drive.

Yeah but a dvdr is 10 cents

It's already taken care of though, I just use the key they gave me for the office 2010 pro trial, and it activates as a full license. The trial is a full download up front so I burned it to a disc.

Nice, that works with the trial version as well. Looks just like an ISO would look too, has autorun and everything. In fact I'll re-burn that because I can embed my key into the config.xml file.
