Default VDPAU: tearing in blit mode

Hi,

according to NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-270.26/NVIDIA_Changelog
Code:
2009-04-06 version 185.19
     * The VDPAU presentation queue now syncs to VBLANK in the blit
       path. The environment variable VDPAU_NVIDIA_SYNC_DISPLAY_DEVICE
       selects which display to sync to when TwinView is enabled;
       see the README for details.
there should be no tearing in blit mode.

So what could be the reason when there is still tearing?

BTW: overlay mode works properly.

Bye.

Sync-to-vblank isn't guaranteed to work; it's a best effort implementation. As such, there are some situations where it will tear. When exactly depends on GPU model, GPU load, CPU load, workload mix, display timing, ...

Hi,

would you explain the constraints in more detail please?

I think it has worked for me at the time of the announcement, so I wonder why it is broken now.

Bye.
