Default Random lags on my GeForce GTS 250

I am using Google Chromium on KDE 4.6.0 on Gentoo Linux. I am experiencing random lags with my GeForce GTS 250 using the 270.18 driver. Things are quick at first, but then after some period of time, browsing becomes laggy. This lasts for 1 to 2 seconds and then things are fast again.

One of the KDE developers suggested that this was because of the PixmapCache being cleaned when it overfills. I tried disabling the PixmapCache by running "nvidia-settings -a PixmapCache=0" and the random lag appears to have disappeared.
